I will try to tread lightly when blogging about politics, but it is hard not to notice how ANGRY the pundits always seem to be on MSNBC.
Whether due to the network's consistently low ratings, or dealing with a president who promised peace but seems to be extending old wars and promoting new battles in foreign countries, MSNBC analysts seem angry all the time.
One of the challenges about that is when the far-left leaning analysts from MSNBC are asked to make appearances on slightly more moderate NBC fare like "The Today Show".
It has been interesting to note, for instance, Rachel Maddow's spots on the legendary program. She chooses her words more carefully and even looks a tad happier and friendly when talking politics with fellow liberal Matt Lauer.
The attempt to "soften" and "lighten" up Maddow's appearance is not surprising, but it is a bit disingenuous. The millions of day-to-day viewers of "The Today Show" should know Maddow is staunchly pro-Obama and EXTREMELY liberal, not views shared by most of America.
I have some advice for Maddow and her cohorts at MSNBC like Ed Schultz and especially Lawrence O'Donnell: lighten up and relax a bit on your own. Your tired approach of being angry has not drawn viewers and will not extend the life of your shows on the little-watched network.
In other words, don't worry...be happy!
Besides, isn't your side in power? Aren't things going the way you want them to for the most part?
Or is "winning", to borrow Charlie Sheen's phrase for a moment, not all it's cracked up to be?
tty Tues and thanks for reading...
I can't comment. I don't watch MSNBC. Of course, that just proves the point you are making doesn't it?
