One of the best things about March Madness is the opportunity to listen to some of the best broadcasters around.
Have to start with my all-time fave: Marv Albert. It's a treat to hear the ex-Knicks, current Nets and TNT play-by-play legend call college games on CBS.
While being terrific at his craft, Marv is also a true gentleman who was really nice to me the one time I had a chance to speak with him.
It's not surprising then that his son, Kenny Albert, is also a terrific guy and first-rate broadcaster.
Jim Nantz, calling the North Carolina-Marquette game Friday night, is so smooth it's ridiculous.
He and partner Clark Kellogg are an all-time great pairing for the NCAA Tourney who don't overwhelm games.
ESPN's Dick Vitale may come across as a nice guy, and he may be a good man, but college basketball doesn't need his breathless excitement....it already is breathlessly exciting, after all.
When all is said and done....you remember the game....not so much the broadcaster....sorry Dicky V.
Thanks for reading "All About TV"....and please consider "TVandVideoGuide.com" as a great way to check out the tourney and all other sports, movies and news.
See the banner above for more info...it is easily the best $25 I have ever spent on news, sports and entertainment.
I love news and politics and have given them short shrift to this point...but all in due time my friends.
All in due time... gn.
