I love the start of the baseball season, especially when my Yanks win!
"Thuh Yankees win!" that is...in the words of Yanks radio man John Sterling.
Oh for the days of him on the radio with Michael Kay, but "oh my goodness gracious" (inside joke)...I digress.
I also appreciate the part Aaron (Bleepin') Boone played in Pinstripes history in extending the Red Sox curse with his legendary homer in 2003.
I don't appreciate his "work" in the broadcast booth, however, as evidenced by his performance in the Yanks opener vs. the Tigers.
Boone has a horrible voice, talks too much and over-reaches with his statements.
His comment that A-Rod was "locked in" for the season after drawing an early walk was ridiculous, for instance.
Oh...if there wasn't a delay between the TV and radio broadcasts I would SO put up with Suzyn Waldman.
Also setting back the ESPN broadcast, or at least pushing me to find the mute button, is old-standby Rick Sutcliffe.
The one-time terrific pitcher is truly a walking "air and space museum" because he sucks up air and takes up space, offering little valuable insight . . . ever.
His NFL equivalent....and this is not a compliment...would be Matt Millen.
Can't wait for those FOX broadcasts so Tim McCarver can try to ruin the Saturday national games.
In case you can't get enough of McCarver, he has a sports interview show that airs at 3 a.m. in most of the country.
Geez....I wonder why?
Sorry for the negative tone on this entry, but these guys drive me nuts!
